About Metrolite Industries

Metrolite Industries evolved from Wigan, Leigh and District Society for the Blind. In 1983, we became part of Wigan Council's Social Services Department (now called Adult Services).

Since then Metrolite has been a sheltered workshop for people with disabilities. We have been manufacturing PVCu Windows & Doors for organisations in the Wigan borough and other local authorities for over ten years.

Over the past twenty years, Metrolite Industries has grown from strength to strength. We have invested heavily in automatic and semi-automatic window and fence making machinery, engraving machinery and new product lines.

Our computer system has been installed to control key activities along with CNC machinery that has been bought to aid the production of our Composite Doors and environment friendly Metro-Wood Gates, Benches, Tables, Litter Bins, Garden Furniture and Golf Course products.

This system has vastly improved our efficiency, products & product quality. This has helped streamline our manufacturing processes and our customer service.

Our annual turnover is around £3.5m, and over the years our range of products and services has changed and expanded to meet customers needs.

We have introduced a range of environment friendly products which include: Single, Double & Bi-Fold Gates, Classic Picnic Tables, Benches, Garden Furniture Items, Golf Tee Markers & Signage.

We also manufacture wooden closed board Fencing Panels, and undertake Engraving Work on a wide range of plastics and metals to customers specifications.

Our customers include local authorities, private industry and the general public.

We are ISO accredited and our windows products conform to BSI standards (BS.7412, Kite Mark).
